While diet CAN have a positive impact on depression, DO NOT
stop medication without consulting with and under the advice of your
doctor. For many, diet, sunlight, exercise (especially aerobic) AND
medication and in some situations, positive psychotherapy/counseling are the
best avenue for reducing or eliminating depression. (Avoid
counselors/therapists who attempt to help you feel good for doing bad...there
are many today.)
To save money, grow your own garden, plant vegetables in a planter on your step or in your window. Substitute ingredients with what you can grow or purchase locally or free from friends/neighbors. Eat: Whole Grains, Vegetables, Fruit, Legumes, Complex Carbs, healthy Herbs and Spices. Avoid: Simple Carbs, Sugar, Corn Syrup. Eat in moderation: starches and meat. Drink: Water.
